Potential JLP 2009-2010 Membership Information Session

Are you interested in joining the Junior League of Plano and meeting other volunteers in the Collin County community?  JLP Membership is a 3-step process and may be reviewed in full under the Membership Process tab. 

Registration for the incoming membership class of 2009-2010 is still open and the last information session will be held on:  Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Junior League of Plano office.

JLP Members Receive 2009 Volunteer of the Year Awards 

The 29th Annual Volunteer of the Year Awards Breakfast, benefiting the Volunteer Center of North Texas, was held April 21, 2009. Among the Lone Star Salute honored award recipients was Cece Liekar and the JLP Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Events Program Committee.  More information...

Organizations that wish to apply for Junior League of Plano volunteer support for a one-time evening or weekend project should complete and submit the Done In A Day application.

Plano Citizens of the Year

Beth Webb, a Junior League of Plano sustaining member, and her husband Duncan were chosen by the Plano Chamber of Commerce as the Plano Citizens of the Year.

Community Impact Award

AJLI 87th Annual Conference, JLP Receives $10,000 and Community Impact Award for Plano Community Garden

The Junior League of Plano received the Junior League Community Impact Award for their Community Garden Program.  The presentation was made during the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI) 87th Annual Conference held in Atlanta. 

Since 2005, the results are impressive:  Over two tons of fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs were harvested serving 6,000 people.  "As a leading women's volunteer organization, the Junior League of Plano is committed to developing the potential of women as community leaders," said President Stacy Cooper.  View to the full Plano Profile article written by Lisa Sams...


4th of July Parade

"Salute to the Red, White and Blue!" 

Bring the whole family and join the Junior League of Plano on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the Annual Plano Independence Day Parade sponsored by the Plano Early Lions Club. 

The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. at Plano Senior High School.  Additional parade details may be found at www.planoparade.org.


American Girl Fashion Show

The Junior League of Plano is looking for girls that are size 6x or 10 to model in our American Girl Fashion Shows to be held October 24-25, 2009.  The first application deadline is July 17, 2009 with a final application deadline of August 7, 2009.  More information...


Distinguished Leadership Award

Leadership Plano Honors Jean Callison

Jean Callison, Mayor Pro Tem and Plano resident for 30 years, was presented with Leadership Plano's Distinguised Leadership Award.  An award ceremony, sponsored by Plano Profile, was held in her honor at the courtyard Theater in downtown Plano on April 22, 2009.  Callison said because of her experience with Leadership Plano Class 16, she was presented with the opportunity to be the president of the Junior League of Plano.  She is currently in the Leadership Texas Class of 2009.  "Thanks to all of you, I've had the opportunity to serve Plano," Callison told her audience.  View the full article and photos...
